Since January 1964, the local government sector has continuously been my profession, area of specialist knowledge and academic engagement. My skills have been honed as an employee primarily in senior management positions for 24 years, and as an elected local government councillor from 1991 to 2012.

In May 2016 I was appointed Administrator to the newly merged Armidale Regional Council and in September 2017 was elected to that council, serving as mayor from December 2020 to December 2021. I was then elected to Clarence Valley Council in December 2021, was elected mayor in January 2022 and continue to serve in that capacity.

From August 2012 to October 2013, I was a member of the NSW Government Local Government Acts Taskforce. See more on my ABOUT page.

In late 2015, I was appointed by the NSW Government to undertake four NSW local government merger inquiry processes.

I possess almost 60 years local government experience, have extensive  political, academic and bureaucratic networks and have enjoyed several Commonwealth and NSW Ministerial appointments.
